Our Englewood office opened in March 2005. Many hours prior to the opening were spent renovating, painting, cleaning and equipping the office. The outside was spruced up as well, with the addition of a fence, and flowers. We want to make you welcome and your visits be a pleasant experience. You will first be welcomed by the office manager, Jasmine, and then be shown the waiting room. There are several examination rooms, an x-ray room, Dr. Shank's office, and the physical therapy room. In the therapeutic room are the Intersegmental Traction table as well as the Dry Hydrotherapy table. If you have never experienced these treatments you are in for a pleasant surprise. Dry hydrotherapy: In essence a heated, pulsating waterbed. A primary wave and a lighter, secondary wave combine to produce a very effective deep tissue massage to all areas of the spine. Hydromassage focuses on trigger points in the muscles, which are localized areas of hyperirritability that induce a cycle of spasm, pain, tension, weakness and limited range of motion in the joints. A few of the major benefits of hydrotherapy are relaxation; promotes tissue healing; increases circulation; relieves muscle spasms; increases mobility. Intersegmental Traction: This is like a roller massage table, also referred to as Combi-tables which employ heat, vibration and intersegmental traction. This increases blood flow to the discs, spinal ligaments and musculature. This also stretches and softens scar tissue, ligaments muscles and intervertebral discs also intersegmental traction activates acupuncture associated meridians on the back which help the body heal. Other techniques that may be utilized are: Therapeutic Ultrasound: Electrical Muscle Stimulation (EMS):
